Georgian wine is making an impression in several French cities at "Les Penitentes” wine exhibitions in Anzhe and "La Dive Bouteille” in Saumur.
The exhibitions, supported by the Georgian National Wine Agency, offer wine professionals, media and business representatives the chance to taste several traditionally-made Georgian wines and learn more about Georgian wine culture
Hundreds of winemakers from different parts of the world attended the "Les Penitentes" and "La Dive Bouteille" exhibitions in France and got a taste of Qvevri-made Georgian wine.
This year Georgian wine was presented for the eighth time.
The Georgian National Wine Agency explained that the presentation of Georgian wine in such events increases the possibilities for Georgia to be known as a winemaking country to an ever widening audience.
At these exhibitions, Georgian wine is tasted not only by French people, but also representatives from other countries, so the promotion of Georgian wine and its maximum representation in all such exhibitions is of great importance. The introduction of Georgian wine in France makes Georgian wine widely known in all major markets of the world”, said the agency.
After these exhibitions, Georgian wine tasting will be held in specialised wine stores and bars in Nantes, Rennes and Lorraine.
In 2017, 100,000 bottles of wine were imported from Georgia to France, which is 178 percent higher than data collected during a similar period during 2016.
The main share of the wine-export business to France comes from Qvevri wines, said the agency.
