French wine producers Thierry Puzelat and Jean-Francois Nicq are visiting Georgia to learn more about artisanal Georgian wines, announces the Embassy of France to Georgia.

Puzelat and Nicq met Georgian wine producers to talk about rare Georgian vine varieties and the qvevri winemaking method earlier today.

This was Nicq's first visit to Georgia, while Puzelat has been importing Georgian wines to France for 10 years already.

The French embassy says that Puzelat is known as one of the first revolutionaries to bring back natural wine and regarded worldwide with ‘rock star status’.

He started importing non-French wines to France from around the world but a significant focus is made on Georgian wines", said Ambassador of France to Georgia Diego Colas.

Furthermore, Puzelat started making his own qvevri wines with many of his friends in various regions of France.

His international status helped open doors in other developed markets as many renowned chefs and sommeliers as well as importers were looking at what he was excited about, and finally a film based on the cultural exchange and friendship between Georgian and French growers was filmed by Phillipe Gessier, and aired on national television in France as well as many wine and film festivals", Colas added.

Today natural Georgian wines are available at Michelin star restaurants in Paris, as well as wine bars and wine restaurants in Toulouse, Blois, Angers, Lyon, Rennes, Nantes, Reims, and Isle de Groix amongst others.
