A Georgian figure skating duo of Maria Kazakova and Giorgi Revia claimed top spot at the ongoing Volvo Open Cup tournament earlier today, continuing their medal-winning season.
The pair, competing among around 200 skaters at the Volvo Sport Centrs venue in Latvia’s capital Riga, finished first in the Junior Ice Dance category.
Kazakova and Revia scored a combined 167.3 points to finish ahead of two Russian pairs who completed the podium.
Elizaveta Shanaeva and Devid Narizhny were second in the category, with Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin taking the third spot.
The Ice Dance category was comprised of Rhythm Dance and Free Dance sections, with the Georgian duo taking the first spot in both.
The result follows their silver medals scored at the Junior Grand Prix competition in Yerevan last month.
The result achieved by the duo in Armenia made them the first skating pair from Georgia to claim a spot at the final stage of a Grand Prix-level competition.
Latvia’s capital will host the 37th Volvo Open Cup through November 11.
