Georgian wines made in large, amphora-like clay vessels, the qvevri, were presented at an international exhibition of RAW Wine – the artisan wine fair held in New York on November 4-5.

Thousands of guests from more than 100 countries attended the exhibition, which is considered one of the most prestigious in the world.

The guests had the opportunity to taste Georgian qvevri wines and to be introduced to the oldest winemaking methods, Georgian traditions, history and culture.

The exhibitors from Georgia were Gotsa Wines, Tibaani, Lapati Wines, Wine Thieves, Akmheta Wine House and Nikalas Marani.

The same wine companies will participate in a similar wine expo in Los Angeles on November 11-12.

In the first 10 months of 2018 Georgia exported about 400,000 bottles of wine to the United States. This is a one per cent increase compared to the same period of 2017.
