London has hosted a Georgian wine tasting event this week which was leaded by British wine master Sarah Abbot.
Abbot said 2018 was a successful year for Georgian wine on the British market.
Georgian wine had fantastic results in the UK this year. British importers and wine traders discovered Georgian wines, signed new contracts and planned for future cooperation”, Abbot said.
As for the recent wine tasting event in London, Abbot noted that a variety of Georgian wines had been represented at the event – red, white and orange wines.
Georgian wine is something very new for Britain but the interest towards it is growing steadily”, she said.
On November 8 London will host another event of Georgian wine – “London Qvevri Wine Festival”, where wines made in the Georgian ancient winemaking vessel of qvevri will be showcased.
As for Georgian wine exports to the UK, in the first nine months of 2018 alone Georgia exported about 68,000 bottles of wine – a 22% hike compared to the same period of 2017.
