Georgia participates in Frankfurt River Bank Festival as host country

Georgia will be represented at the River Bank Festival in Frankfurt with host country status from August 24-26.

The festival has been opened by the Mayor of Frankfurt-am-Main, Peter Feldmann and Georgia’s general counsel Ioseb Chkhikvishvili. The opening ceremony was continued by the Georgian Ethno-Jazz Band Iriao, singer Misho Urushadze, musicians KORDZ/Zagareli&Strings and Luka Nakashidze.

As the Ministry of Culture and Sport said, the festival, hosting three million tourists annually, will involve different performances by Georgian musicians and performers.

Modern bands and singers will be performing at the festival during the three days including Jazz sextet QUINTESSENCE, Nino Katamadze and Insight as well as Nikoloz Rachvelishvili with the National Symphonic Orchestra. The festival events will also involve interactive performances including pantomime and motion theatre plays.

As a part of the project - “Souvenirs from Georgia” - children will be invited to participate in the process of making traditional Georgian souvenirs.

The River Bank Festival is a part of the Frankfurt Book Fair where Georgia has been selected as the guest of honor this year.

The participation of the country in the 2018 event as official Guest of Honour is anticipated to promote the country's literary scene as well as contribute to tourist interest and bring the attention of the international media to Georgia during the annual fair which will be held in October.
