Georgia’s European Women Chess Champion Nana Dzagnidze defeated China’s former World Champion Tan Zhongyi in a friendly contest in Wenzhou, China on Tuesday.

Dzagnidze claimed her win with an emphatic score of 3:1, after four rounds, collecting 10.8 rating points on the way.

The match between the Georgian and Chinese Grand Masters was held to accompany a game between China’s No. 1 ranked Ding Liren and former World Champion Veselin Topalov from Bulgaria.

Dzagnidze triumphed in last year’s Women's European Individual Chess Championship in Riga, Latvia, becoming the first Georgian player to win the title.

She followed up with a silver medal at this year’s edition of the tournament in Slovakia.

It was one of her two major titles of the year, the other being the Women’s World Blitz Chess Championship in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Her medal collection also includes the gold at the World Team Chess Championship in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia in 2015.
