Batumi City Hall and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) are teaming up to create a ‘Green City’ concept’ for Batumi.

Various large infrastructural projects are being carried out in [Batumi]. In parallel to the constructions, environmental issues have become a challenge for us. It is important to pay attention to environmental issues in order not to damage the environment while developing infrastructure”, said Batumi Mayor Lasha Komakhidze.

Batumi Green City action plan examines the sectors affecting environmental conditions, including transport, energy, industry, land use, waste and water management.

By developing the Green City Concept, Batumi will be involved in the EBRD’s Green Cities Framework Programme, which helps cities to develop their sustainable development vision and strategic goals. The EBRD Green Cities programme is a complete business model for green urban development, with strategic planning, investment and technical support.
