Heatwave hits Tbilisi and Eastern Georgia

Hottest days of July in Tbilisi and eastern Georgia are expected over the course of the next few days.
The temperature in eastern Georgia is forecast to reach as high as 43 degrees Celsius.
The heat wave will come to an end on July 4.
The National Environmental Agency of Georgia has forecast that the temperature will be relatively lower in Western Georgia and may reach a maximum of 37 degrees Celsius in the upcoming days.
In Tbilisi the highest temperature over the next few days is forecast at 40 degrees Celsius.
The National Center for Disease Control has urged everyone to keep cool and hydrated during the day as well as to avoid being exposed to direct sun especially in the cases of children, elderly and people with chronic diseases.
Somewhat cooler weather is forecasted after July 4 but specialists do not forecast a rapid decrease in temperature.
A special tourism centre located in Bakuriani’s movie theatre provides tourists with information as to various services and activities available in town, as well as about weather, ropeway and public transport schedules.
Akhmeteli subway access was flooded heavily while the emergency service has received calls about flooding in the basements of residential buildings in Gldani, Mukhiani and Digomi districts as well.
YouTube will promote Georgia’s touristic destinations to help the country attract more tourists. Advertising videos on Georgia’s summer touristic hot-spots will be showed at Youtube space, announced the Georgian National Tourism Administration.
The NAPR has already completed its field work to chart and photograph all major locations in Tbilisi as a part of the project aiming to create a national database for Georgia and integrate it in leading navigation systems worldwide, such as Google and TomTom.
