Georgian and French universities to expand joint programs

As agreed, the French side will reimburse the costs of qualified academic staff preparation missions, while Georgia will finance students with state grants.

Georgian and French universities will cooperate under a memorandum signed yesterday by Georgian Education Minister Mikheil Chkhenkeli and the French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.

Institutional cooperation between the universities of the two countries will expand joint educational programs and the issuance of French diplomas in Georgia.

"This agreement envisages launching of French-Georgian university and covers Tbilisi State University and  Georgian Technical University. These universities were actively involved in partnership with France. Six French universities have also expressed readiness to participate in the project," French Foreign Minister said.

As agreed, the French side will reimburse the costs of qualified experts and academic staff preparation missions, while Georgia will finance students with state grants.

The memorandum signing ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili.
