The Gudauri-Kobi road section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi route, connecting Georgia with Russia, has opened for cars after heavy snow.
Trailers and semi-trailers are still not permitted on the section, Georgia’s Road Department has announced.
Vehicles will move on the Kobi-Gudauri section only via an avalanche-protective tunnel.
Drivers must not stop on the 134th-135th kilometer of the section, which is the Dariali Gorge.
Patrol police are at the scene to supervise and control traffic on the road.
Kobi-Gudauri road closed to all vehicles on January 1, 2018.
Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road and its Kobi-Gudauri road section frequently face road restrictions in winter due to hard meteorological conditions, intensive snowfalls or avalanche threats.
