68 Georgian citizens have been returned by charter flight from Dusseldorf, Germany to Georgia under the EU-Georgia Readmission Agreement, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said today.
The countries from which Georgians were returned include Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and Island.
The agreement between the European Union and Georgia on the readmission of persons residing without authorisation defines procedures to be applied in case of readmission to their homeland of persons illegally residing on the territory of a foreign country.
All of those who were returned did not comply with the rules of staying in European countries anymore.
The charter flight was planned and organised jointly by Georgia’s Interior Ministry, the Federal Police of Germany and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex).
Five citizens returned to Georgia by their own wish, the Interior Ministry said.
