Prime Minister of Turkey Binali Yildirim is set to pay an official visit to Georgia today.
Yildirim will be accompanied by a delegation consisted of Turkish Cabinet Ministers.
Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze will meet the Turkish delegation at Tbilisi International Airport later today.
An official welcoming ceremony will take place at the Government Administration’s building in central Tbilisi on Tuesday morning.
This will be followed by Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili’s face-to-face meeting with Yildirim.
After the meeting the pair will hold a joint press conference to make statements for the press tomorrow afternoon.
Within the visit the leaders of the two states will meet in the format of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council of Georgia and Turkey. This format of cooperation between the two countries was introduced in 2016.
Georgia and Turkey closely cooperate on a wide range of areas from energy to trade and from economy to education and culture. Turkey ranked as the largest trade partner of Georgia with a bilateral trade volume of $1.33 billion USD in 2015.
