Anaklia Black Sea Port is attracting the interest of one of the world's largest privately held port operators, SSA Marine.
In a display of interest in operating Georgia’s future, multi - functional port, senior Vice - President of SSA Marine Bob Watters visited Georgia and met the country’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili today.

After the meeting PM Kvirikashvili said it was very important for the country to attract the interest of "the leading port operator company in the United States”.
Work on the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project began before the end of 2016 and would be completed by 2020.
The Anaklia Development Consortium is responsible for building the largest port in Anaklia, a Black Sea city near Georgia’s breakaway Abkhazia region. The Consortium will invest $2.5 billion in the multi - functional port project.

Spread over 400 hectares and boasting access to a deep sea canyon, the Anaklia Port’s mission is to create a new, faster maritime corridor between China and Europe, helping restore the historic Silk Road.
The Anaklia Deep Sea Port project is one of the infrastructural projects within Georgia’s new Spatial Arrangement Plan and the Government’s four - point reform plan to improve the country’s economy and investment environment.
