Today the European Union has announced that the regulation lifting EU visa-requirements for Georgia has finally been adopted.
This is an announcement Georgians have been awaiting for years.
A number of international leaders have taken to Twitter to share in the happiness of the Georgian nation.

Georgia's friends amongst the Baltic nations were some of the first to congratulate the country on this big day.
The Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics wrote on Twitter that the visa waver was well-deserved.

Lithuanian Foreign Ministry tweeted that this decision is a "meaningful step towards Georgia’s EU integration”.

Estonia’s Foreign Ministry also wrote that this new regulation will strengthen bonds between Georgia and the EU.

Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn wrote that "Green light for visa-free travel is a well-deserved recognition of the huge efforts undertaken by Georgian authorities [and] people”.
