Georgia defeats Belgium in Rugby Europe Championship match

Georgia’s national rugby team has started the 2017 Europe Championship with a win.

The Georgian side handed a defeat to Belgium 31 to 6 in Brussels in its first Rugby Europe Championship match last night.

The game’s first points were scored by Georgia’s Merab Kvirikashvili, who flawlessly kicked a goal after the match kicked off.

The match’s first try was scored by Georgia’s Giorgi Tkhilashvili at the 23rd minute into the game. This was followed by another try by Georgia’s Giorgi Koshadze, marking the player’s first try in a national team game. Both of the tries were followed by Kvirikashvili’s successful conversions.

The first half of the match ended 17-0 in favour of the Georgian side, the Lelos.

After the break the Belgian side scored two penalty kicks, which was followed by a penalty try for the Georgians. Kvirikashvili scored a successful conversion again.

By the end of the game, Georgia’s Beka Gorgadze scored the match’s final try, followed by Lasha Malaguradze’s successful conversion.

The Lelos are expected to return home on February 13.

Looking ahead, Georgia will hold its next game against Germany in the Georgian town of Rustavi on February 19.
