Second round of municipal elections to be held tomorrow

Georgia is getting ready for the election runoff that will take place in six municipalities tomorrow, November 12.
The election runoff will take place in - Kutaisi, Ozurgeti, and Martvili in western Georgia, and Kazbegi, Khashuri, and Borjomi in eastern Georgia. These are the districts where no candidate cleared the 50 percent threshold during the first vote on October 21.
These are the candidates who will run in the second round of the elections:
Kutaisi
- Giorgi Chigvaria – Georgian Dream
- Grigol Vashadze – United National Movement
Ozurgeti
- Beglar Sioridze – Georgian Dream
- Konstantine Sharashenidze – independent candidate
Martvili
- Aleksandre Grigalava – Georgian Dream
Mamuka Danelia – United National Movement
Kazbegi
- Aleksandre Zagashvili – Georgian Dream
- Sandro Kamarauli – Democratic Movement – Free Georgia
Khashuri
- Giorgi Guraspashvili – Georgian Dream
- Ramaz Nozadze – independent candidate
Borjomi
- Levan Lipartia – Georgian Dream
- Zaza Chachanidze – Alliance of Patriots
The opposition United National Movement refused to participate in the runoff elections but according to the Georgian election code, their candidates will still be written in election ballots.
The ruling Georgian Dream candidate Kakha Kaladze has won Tbilisi mayoral elections, according to the preliminary data from the Central Election Commission (CEC). The CEC preliminary results say that Kaladze received 51.1 percent of total votes.
A second round of mayoral elections could be needed in six municipalities across Georgia, says chair of the Central Election Commission Tamar Zhvania, based on preliminary results. The municipalities are Kutaisi, Ozurgeti, Martvili, Kazbegi, Khashuri, and Borjomi.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia released latest voter turnout figures a short time ago and the data showed 1,569,992 people voted today. This was 45.64 percent turnout.
Four hours since the polling stations opened for voters this morning and some of Tbilisi mayoral candidates have already cast their ballots in today's Municipal Elections. Georgian Dream candidate Kakha Kaladze arrived at the polling station at about 10 am.
