Ruling Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia’s candidates running for the second round of municipal elections in western Georgia have cast their ballots.
Giorgi Chigvaria, who is running in Kutaisi, Imereti region, went to Kutaisi #15 polling station. Having cast his ballot, Chigvaria said he has voted for the city’s development and welfare.
I voted for the success of Kutaisi. We will have a convincing victory”, Chigvaria said.
Another candidate of the ruling party Alexandre Grigalava who is running in Martvili, Samegrelo region said he is also confident in his victory.
Chigvaria and Grigalava are competing with candidates from the oppositional United National Movement (UNM) Grigol Vashadze and Mamuka Danelia. UNM refused to participate in the runoff elections but according to the Georgian election code, their candidates will still be written on election ballots.

The polling stations opened at 8 am this morning for about 328,272 eligible voters in Kutaisi, Ozurgeti, and Martvili in western Georgia, and Kazbegi, Khashuri, and Borjomi in eastern Georgia.
