Municipal Elections 2017: 29.84% voter turnout by 3pm

In Georgia 1,026,430 voters throughout the country cast their vote in the Municipal Elections by 3pm this afternoon.

Voter turnout was 29.84 percent at 3pm - seven hours after polling stations opened across the country, said the Central Election Commission (CEC) in its latest media update.

The highest voter turnout was evident in Georgia's Racha-Lechkhumi region (46.2 percent) and the lowest in Shida Kartli region (25.4 percent).

The voter turnout by 3pm was the following:

  • Tbilisi – 261,137 (27.7 percent)
  • Imereti – 168,318 (31.3 percent)
  • Samegrelo- Zemo Svaneti – 109,746 (31.9 percent)
  • Kvemo Kartli – 106,348 (27.1 percent)
  • Kakheti – 92,590 (30.5 percent)
  • Adjara – 89,665 (29.2 percent)
  • Shida Kartli – 59,829 (25.4 percent)
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti – 52,315 (36 percent)
  • Guria – 44,552 (40.5 percent)
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 25,788 (29.8 percent)
  • Racha-Lechkhumi – 16,142 (46.2 percent)

Today, October 21, is election day in Georgia, when the country will vote for 2,058 members of 64 city councils (sakrebulo) and 64 municipal mayors.
