Georgian athlete Zaza Nadiradze claimed his latest international medal last weekend by finishing third in the Canoe Sprint European Championship 2017 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

Nadiradze was awarded bronze medal of Men’s 200-Metre Sprint category after his time of 38.342 saw the Georgian finish behind Lithuania’s Henrikas Zustautas and Alexey Korovashkov of Russia.

The European Canoe Association-organised championship ran in Plovdiv from July 14-16 and involved individual athletes as well as teams of men and women competitors.

Nadiradze’s result follows his silver at the Canoe Sprint World Cup in southern Hungarian city of Szeged earlier this year. The competition was also won by Zustautas.

The Georgian is a finalist of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games and was the first Georgian canoer to compete at the Olympics. His medals also include a bronze from the 2014 Youth World Championship.

Nadiradze is expected to compete at the 2017 Canoe Sprint World Championships, set to be held in Czech Republic in August.
