Finance Ministry investigators detain Azeri citizen for smuggling gold

Investigators of Georgia’s Ministry of Finance detained a citizen of Azerbaijan today who was trying to smuggle out 2,5kg gold from Georgia.

The cost of the gold is 148,000GEL (62,000 USD).

The person, who wasn’t identified in an official statement, was detained at the Georgia-Azerbaijan border.

The Ministry of Finance Investigation Service states that in this year 13,5kg was seized, with a total price reaching 910,000 GEL (380,000 USD).
