The Investigation Service of the Georgian Finance Ministry has fined three individuals, including foreign citizens, for attempting to smuggle gold items through western Georgia’s Kutaisi International Airport on Tuesday.

The Finance Ministry said customs officers had seized about 429 grams of undeclared gold items worth ₾42,154 (about $15,337) as a result of inspection of baggage of the citizens of Georgia, Kazakhstan and Greece.

The offenders were fined $15,337.
