Georgia’s top defence official is paying an official visit to the Scandinavian and Baltic states.

Defence Minister Levan Izoria is in Finland today to meet his counterpart Jussi Niinisto. The pair will discuss defence cooperation between the two states.

While in Helsinki, Izoria will also meet Finland’s Foreign Minister Timo Soini.

Sweden will be Izoria’s next destination. A special welcoming ceremony will be held in honour of the Georgian delegation at the Swedish Military Academy Karlberg.

Following the ceremony the Georgian Defence Minister will meet his Swedish counterpart Peter Hultqvist before the pair will speak before the public about Georgia-Sweden defence cooperation at the analytic-research centre Society and Defence.

While in Stockholm, Izoria will meet Swedish parliament officials, too.

The Georgian Minister will wrap up his European tour in Estonia, where he will meet Defence Minister Margus Tsahkna.

Izoria is expected to return home on January 28.
