Georgian soldiers serving in an international peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan have sent heartfelt letters to Georgian students of several Tbilisi and Kutaisi schools.

It was a response action as the students sent such letters to the hot point to Georgian servicemen of the 23rd Battalion of the II Infantry Brigade earlier this year.

The warm and thankful letters were handed to the pupils by the soldiers of the 3nd Infantry Brigade.

In the letters the soldiers revealed their grateful attitude to the students for their warm wishes.

"It is exciting to know that people as cool as you and your friends care about us”, one of the soldiers wrote to a student.
"Our victory is depended on the faith and hope which you give us”, another soldier wrote.

Defence Minister Levan Izoria was also there as students opened their letters.

He said this type of communication between soldiers and students allows students to learn more about the activities of soldiers serving abroad and it also provides support and sympathy to the soldiers who are defending Georgia’s interests abroad.

Georgia is the largest non-NATO contributor to the Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan with 885 troops. The aim of the mission is to provide further training, advice and assistance for the Afghan security forces and institutions after the completion of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission, to which Georgia contributed about 750 soldiers.
