The red wine of Georgian company Château Mukhrani took top accolades for red wines at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards.
Château Mukhrani Réserve Royale (Saperavi) 2012 received an unprecedented award in the history of Georgia: Platinum Medal, Best in Category: Best Georgian Red!” read the statement published by the company on Facebook this week.
Promoted as the world’s "largest and most influential wine competition”, the 2017 edition of the awards featured over 17,000 wines from across the world and among them Château Mukhrani received one of the highest rewards available at the competition.
According to the rules, the Platinum Medal is rewarded to those Gold Medal winning wines, which are later re-tasted in specific categories. It should also be noted that before 2017 no Georgian wine has ever received even a Gold Medal on this competition,” said the Company.
Château Mukhrani applied six wines to the competition and all of them received awards, which was distributed the following way:
Château Mukhrani is based on the historical tradition of wine-making in Mukhrani region of Georgia. This is the first and the only true Georgian Royal Chateau, which unites four key components: vineyards, winery, castle and history.
