Georgia receives top awards at Decanter wine competition for Teliani Valley’s wines

Georgia has yet again received a Best in Show medal for Teliani Valley’s Glekhuri Rkatsiteli Qvevri from Kakheti, this year for the 2018 vintage, alongside two platinum medals and three gold at the 17th edition of the Decanter World Wine Awards

Only a total of 50 wines were awarded the highly sought-after accolade of 'Best in Show', including Teliani Valley’s Glekhuri Rkatsiteli Qvevri. Teliani Valley is the only winery in Georgia, in the Caucasus region and Eurasia who owns the 'Best in Show' medal. It has been two years in a row that this award has been given only to Teliani Valley wine", reads the press-release published by Teliani Valley. 

In August, 116 of the world’s top wine experts, including 37 masters of wine and nine master sommeliers, blind tasted 16,518 wines under Covid safety guidelines, resulting in 50 ‘Best in Show’, 178 platinum, 537 gold, 5,234 silver and 7,508 bronze medals.
