A $70 million dollar multi-functional hotel-residential complex is set to open in Georgia’s Black Sea resort town Batumi this summer, and when it does it will be the highest building in Georgia.

Construction of the world-class Porta Batumi Tower started in June 2013 and already $70 million USD has been invested in the major construction project.

This is one of the avant-garde projects and the highest hotel-residential complex in Georgia,” said the press office of the Administration of the Government of Georgia.

The media release did not state how high it will be but said the Porta Batumi Tower will be the highest building in Georgia.

Local real estate agency www.houses.ge said the Porta Batumi Tower will be 43 storeys tall.

Turkish construction company and developer System Construction is building Porta Batumi Tower.

Project details published on System Construction's webpage said Porta Batumi Tower will consist of two towers, each consisting of two basement floors, five low rise reinforced concrete floors and 20 steel construction floors. Total construction area is 120,000 m².

Meanwhile, the same construction company is repairing the BAB EL BAHR hotel and building a central hospital in Batumi.

Once open the Porta Batumi Tower will boast 12 shopping areas on the ground floor for residents and guests.

The hotel part of the complex will feature a 100-room hotel with terrace restaurant, fitness and spa centre, cafe and office spaces, while the residential side will offer various sized studio and two-three bedroom apartments.

The tower will also feature 12 penthouses with views of the sea and mountains, as well as a two-storey 872 capacity underground carpark for residents.
