Georgia - as a corridor linking Europe and Asia – is a very important country for Japan.
Georgia’s Parliament Speaker David Usupashvili said this after he met Japanese parliament officials in Tokyo today.
Usupashvili, who is on a three-day visit to Japan, said the two countries had recently intensified economic and political ties, resulting in Georgia become more attractive for Japanese businessmen.

Usupashvili led a Georgian Parliamentary delegation to Japan’s capital Tokyo. The Georgian officials met the Speaker of the Representative (lower) Chamber of Japan’s parliament Tadamori Oshima.
"Japan considers Georgia as one of its partner countries,” Usupashvili said following the meeting.
"Mr. Speaker talked in detail about what benefits they see in collaborating with Georgia. As a corridor linking Europe and Asia, Georgia is very important for Japan.”
One of the topics in focus at the meeting was the growing popularity of Georgian wine in Japan.
"Georgian wine is become our country’s visit card in Japan, which should be followed by other business relations too,” Usupashvili said.
While in Tokyo the Georgian Parliament Speaker was scheduled to meet the President of the Upper Chamber of Japan’s parliament too.
Meetings will also be held with Japanese executive authorities including the country’s Foreign Minister and Health Ministers.
