Less money is coming into Georgia from abroad.
The sum of money transfers coming into Georgia in January 2016 was 11.8 percent less year-on-year (y/y), official figures reveal.
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) published remittance figures, which showed the sum of money transfers from abroad constituted $66.5 million USD in January 2016. This was $8.9 million USD less than in January 2015.
NBG said 88.1percent of all remittances from abroad came from 11 main donor countries, and the volume of transfers from of these countries exceeded one million USD in January 2016.
Meanwhile, in January 2015 the share of remittances from these 11 countries made up 88.8 percent of the total money transfers into Georgia.
Last month $11.9 million USD was transferred out of Georgia, while $12.5 million USD was sent out of the country in January 2015.
