Georgian modern art named among world’s best 2015 exhibitions

Three of the international contemporary art exhibitions that featured Georgian artists over the past year have been named among top 15 artistic occasions by an influential forum of art and culture.

The community art forum Hyperallergic named the best creative displays of 2015 that included exhibitions across the world from the Middle East to United Kingdom.

In the list were the biennial exhibitions in Kiev, Istanbul and Venice that all featured works by Georgian creators, with the Italian event displaying the project Crawling Border by seven contemporary artists starting in May.

The project involved artists Nia Mgaloblishvili, Rusudan Khizanishvili, Sophio Shevardnadze, Ia Liparteliani, Irakli Bluishvili, Dimitri Chikvaidze and Joseph Sabia.

The expositions in Turkey and Ukraine followed later in the year and featured the display titled Through shaped manifesto - The disappearance of the way starting in September.

The exposition featured works by Ana Chaduneli, Uta Bekaia and Tamar Tchabashvili.

The Georgian artists were represented at all three events with the support by the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia.

The Hyperallergic art forum featured a base of 70,000 subscribers and releases a newsletter as well as reviews of contemporary art events and works.
