Using Georgia to transit electricity between other countries in the region is a "historic event in Georgia’s energy sector”.

The Georgian State Electrosystem today announced Georgia would earn 1 million GEL ($401,735 USD or €359,169*) per month for being an energy corridor that transferred power between Russia and Armenia, and Azerbaijan and Turkey.

This was a "historic event in Georgia’s energy sector”, said the Georgian State Electrosystem.

From February 5, 2016 electricity was being transferred from Russia to Armenia, via Georgia. In a 24-hour period about 30 MW of power could pass through Georgia in this direction.

Meanwhile yesterday, February 7, Georgia started to transfer power from Azerbaijan to Turkey. In a 24-hour period up to 80 MW of electricity could be transferred through Georgia to its destination.

Each month Georgia will earn approximately 1 million GEL ($401,735 USD or €359,169*) through these two transit corridors, said the Georgian State Electrosystem.
