Although the resort was not officially open yet, the first phase of the infrastructural works has been finished.

Georgia’s Economy Minister Dimitri Kumsishvili yesterday travelled to Mestia to see the resort and meet the local population who will be employed in the developed area.

Kumsishvili also opened the first cable-driven lift of the resort, which was installed by French company Poma. The Minister announced the lift would serve guests for free during for the entire first season.

"This will be a unique resort. It will have the longest trails in Georgia, with special areas for everyone; beginners, intermediate and experts,” Kumsishvili said.

He added only locals would be employed at the resort. They had been provided with relevant trainings to ensure they knew top mountain operating practices.
