Have you ever skied in pristine snow conditions surrounded by peaks up to 5,000 metres high?

A new video by Georgia’s Mountain Resorts Development Company might give you some idea.

The video featured Mestia, an ancient highland small town in northwest Georgia that sits at an elevation of 1,500m high in the Caucasus Mountains. Mestia is one of Georgia’s five ski resorts, located 45km from Ushguli, the highest inhabited village in Europe.

It is a dream place for winter enthusiast who don’t mind going on an off-road adventure to get there. But Mestia also has its own airport for people who don’t want to navigate along the winding roads, which operates flights to and from capital Tbilisi.

The town is about 140km from Zugdidi and the nearest railway station. It takes about four hours to drive to Kutaisi or Batumi International Airports from Mestia.

The resort lies about 15km from Tetnudi, the newest of Georgia’s ski resorts. A free bus from Mestia to Tetnuldi and back is offered to tourists during the winter season.
