PM: Support from the Netherlands is important for Georgia’s visa liberalisation

Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikahsvili has today met Ambassador of the Netherlands to Georgia Johannes Douma to discuss Georgia’s visa liberalisation prospects with the European Union (EU).
The Georgian Government’s press service said the Netherlands support for Georgia as it progressed towards visa liberalisation was of utmost importance as the country currently was the chair state of the EU Council.
The Georgian PM stressed "the Netherlands is a very important country for Georgia to successfully carry out visa liberalisation.”

The two officials today discussed common priority areas and directions where bilateral cooperation could be enhanced. The innovation sector was an area both sides said would benefit if the two countries worked together.
The EU Council, together with the European Parliament, is the main decision-making body of the EU.
Georgia meets all the benchmarks of its Visa Liberalisation Action Plan (VLAP), meaning in early 2016 the European Union (EU) will propose a legislative amendment to let Georgian citizens travel to the EU visa free.
Tbilisi celebrates the release of a positive progress report on Georgia's implementation of its Visa Liberalisation Action Plan (VLAP). The European Commission today released the report that said Georgia met all the benchmarks of the VLAP.
The Government stressed the successful completion of its VLAP obligations was thanks to joint efforts by all state structures.

Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili has published an open statement about the fourth and final progress report on Georgia’s implementation of its Visa Liberalisation Action Plan (VLAP), released by the European Commission today.
The Dutch PM Mark Rutte has stated that “thanks to non-stop work for many years” Georgia has become a role model for the countries in the region and a main partner of the EU and the Netherlands. Rutte made the statement after his meeting with Georgian PM Giorgi Gakharia in the Netherlands which is a historic visit as it is the first time the Georgian PM holds, official, bilateral meetings in the country.
Foreign Minister of the Netherlands Stef Blok will come to Georgia today which will be the first visit of a foreign minister from the country to Georgia in the past ten years, the Georgian Foreign Ministry has reported earlier today. The ministry said that the first official visit of Blok to Georgia “will further strengthen bilateral cooperation between Georgia and the Netherlands.”
Foreign Minister of the Netherlands Stef Blok, who came to Tbilisi late yesterday, says that Georgia is a ‘very important country’ for security and stability in the region and ‘enjoys values like the rule of law, human rights and democratization.’He said that the Netherlands will continue to support democratic reforms in Georgia.
