Cheese lovers in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi this weekend are encouraged to attend the country’s annual cheese festival today.
Dozens of unique varieties of sweet, salty, smoky and creamy traditional Georgian cheese will be on show at the outdoor cheese festival at Rose Revolution Square in central Tbilisi.
Festivities began mid-morning today this morning end will end at 5pm.

Cheese-makers from all over the country flocked to the capital city to showcase their creations to locals and visitors.
Georgia’s Agriculture Ministry, which organised the event, said more than 100 varieties of cheese from small suppliers to large production enterprises were presented at the one-day festival.

The program of this year’s festival will be a bit different since it will mainly be focused on showcasing products from young farmers who reproduce traditional Georgian cheese recipes that were long forgotten," said Khatia Tsilosani, head of the Agriculture Ministry's International Relations Department.
Alongside cheese, visitors will also be able to sample Georgian wine and honey.
