Bad weather and snow in some parts of Georgia means authorities have imposed restrictions on several roads.
The Gudauri-Kobi section of north-eastern Georgia’s Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi route is closed for some vehicles due to snow and ice, Georgia’s Ministry of Infrastructure announced today.
The Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road is the route linking Georgia with Russia.
The Gudauri-Kobi section of this road was closed for truck and trailers, semi-trailers and vehicles that can carry more than 30 passengers.
Meanwhile the Ministry’s Road Department said restrictions were in place on other roads in northern Georgia.
The 18-72km section of Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road was closed to all vehicles as the road was covered by a thick layer of snow.
The early part of the same road, the 1-17 km section, was still open to all vehicles.
The Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road leads to Georgia's historical region of Tusheti - a popular tourist destination.
The Roads Department said efforts were underway to clean the roads and reopen them to vehicles.
