The Administration of the President of Georgia hosted a National Security Council (NSC) meeting today that involved discussion on Georgia's preparation for the NATO summit in Warsaw and participation of Georgian Armed Forces in international peacekeeping missions.
The three-hour meeting was between President Giorgi Margvelashvili and government officials including Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikheil Janelidze, Minister of Defence Tinatin Khidasheli and Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze.
Participating officials commented on the subjects of discussion to the media following the meeting.
We talked about further strengthening the country’s self-defence through deeper integration with NATO. We also talked about the participation of Georgian soldiers in the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan. In this regard we asked Georgia’s Defence Minister to continue consultations with our partner countries to discuss future cooperation prospects,” Prime Minister Kvirikashvili told reporters.
Minister of Defence Tinatin Khidasheli also shared the topics of the council meeting to her social media followers.

President Margvelashvili stressed Georgia’s NATO integration while speaking about the meeting.
In this process it is important to ensure coordination and establish a common position. At today’s meeting we have clearly defined the next steps and the coordination process,” Margvelashvili said.
The NSC celebrated its 20th anniversary today.
