Georgian peacekeepers in Afghanistan are having their say in Georgia’s 2016 Parliamentary Elections three days earlier than the rest of the nation.

Two polling stations opened in Afghanistan for Georgian servicemen early this morning.

Like the rest of the country, the peacekeepers will vote for who they want to rule Georgia for the next four years.

The two voting stations where Georgian soldiers can cast their ballot are Bagram and Mazar-i-Sharif polling stations.

Georgia’s central Election Commission (CEC) said 1,603 Georgian citizens were registered to vote at these polling stations.

A team from the CEC travelled to Afghanistan beforehand to organise the voting process.

Meanwhile in Georgia the 2016 Parliamentary Elections will take place on Saturday, October 8.

Polling stations will open at 08:00 and close at 20:00.
