Georgia is pumping money into Gudauri - Georgia's winter wonderland - to improve the infrastructure and the lives of local people and better serve more than 7,000 tourists who visit the resort each year.

The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and the United Water Supply Company of Georgia are starting the first phase of water supply construction in Gudauri.

About 100 locals will be employed in the construction works.

The Government of Georgia has allocated more than 4 million GEL ($1.70 million/€1.53 million*) to the water rehabilitation project.

The new water system is expected to be operational by November 2016.

The project included building a water distribution network and reservoir to ensure a constant water supply.

The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia explained it was extremely hard to provide a reliable water supply during the high season as demand was so high

Once the new water supply system is completed in Gudauri, its inhabitants and visitors will enjoy a constant water supply in summer and winter.
