Georgia is taking actions to improve the efficiency of the water supply, sewerage, and sanitation systems in the Black Sea resorts towns of Anaklia and Ureki.

To achieve this, construction of wastewater biological treatment facilities has started in both towns.

The United Water Supply Company of Georgia is carrying out the construction works, while the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is providing the financial assistance within its Urban Services Improvement Investment Program.

The total cost of the project is 34,458,437 GEL (about $14,007,354/€11,259,952*).

Once the construction works are completed the two modern wastewater biological treatment facilities will become operational.

Each will be able to clean wastewater in full biological cycle (including the removal of nitrogen and phosphorus elements), which is important for reducing the threat of environmental pollution.
