Georgia's leading kickboxer Giga Chikadze has delivered an astonishing victory at the world’s top kickboxing event in the United States (US).

Chikadze defeated world champion Chris Mauceri with a knockout at the GLORY World Series superfight in the lightweight category last night.

Chikadze [was] able to throw all kinds of attacks at all kinds of distance from all kinds of angles,” said GLORY on its website.

The Georgian fighter outfought his opponent and performed several powerful kicks including his trademark liverkick. Shortly after the fight began, his aggressive attack saw Mauceri get knocked down and unable to get back up.

GLORY said Chikadze put up a strong performance and he was a "solid claim to being one of the most dangerous kickers in all of fight sports”.

Giga Chikadze is well known for his unorthodox and highly effective kicking game, a product of training in Goju Ryu karate as a youth and then later learning what he calls 'Brazilian Muay Thai' from super-coach Rafael Cordeiro,” GLORY said.

The GLORY World Series is the world's premier kickboxing league and sees challengers compete in six different weight classes. Fights take place as single matches between two fighters (known as 'superfights') and as part of tournaments.

Georgia’s Chikadze is extremely successful in his sport. He is a two-time world champion, European champion and winner of numerous A class tournaments in kickboxing.

He is also actively involved in the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon campaign ‘UNiTE to End Violence against Women’.

In addition, Chikadze established the Knockout Cancer Fund, which helps pay for medical treatment for people with cancer.
