Kickboxing: Georgian athlete wins fight in support of women rights

A Georgian kickboxer has dedicated his confident victory to fighting violence against women after winning an important battle in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Two-time World Champion, European Champion and winner of numerous A class tournaments Giga Chikadze won the Super Fight against Armen Zakyan of Russia after knocking out his rival in the second round.

 The K-1 style battle was organised by one of the most successful kickboxing promotion clubs in the Netherlands Fight Fans. K-1 is a kickboxing platform and martial arts brand well-known around the globe mainly for its heavyweight division fights.

 Chikadze said he began preparing for this fight several weeks ago. He said he wanted to once again make Georgian fans proud by defeating a Russian athlete who was his principal rival.

 The Georgian champion dedicated his victory to fighting violence against women. Chikadze was actively involved in the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon campaign "UNITE to End Violence against Women”.
