Artistically-minded locals and visitors of Georgia's capital are invited to celebrate a new vibrant community in the middle of Tbilisi with a two-day festival of urban art, creative design and vintage clothing this weekend.

The inaugural edition of the Fabrikaffiti Urban Paint Festival will draw over 40 local artists to the yard of Fabrika, an artistic space based in a former Soviet sewing factory building on Ninoshvili St near Tbilisi's Aghmashenebeli Ave.

Throughout the weekend creative individuals will paint the facade of the building for onlookers, while visitors will be invited to do the same on a special stencil stand.

The festival will run alongside two other events at this new urban art spot.

This year's annual Graduation Day of the Creative Education Studio – a creative design and multimedia school – will award students their diplomas.

Complementing the two events will be a special flea market, arranged to sell vintage Soviet clothing manufactured 50 years ago at the Fabrika building when it functioned as theNino Soviet sewing factory.

The two-day festival will also invite hip hop performers and electronic music artists to entertain the crowds.

Founded this year, Fabrika was called a "forefront" of the "renaissance" of artistic urban community and spaces in Tbilisi in a feature by Jako FM Radio earlier this year.

The former Soviet factory was refurbished by its new owners and transformed into a space for creative events and gatherings. The venue has already hosted several artistic displays including an exhibition by Polish artist Iza Tarasewicz in March this year.

Its founders described Fabrika as a "multi-functional space for Georgian artists to share ideas".

The location also includes Fabrika Hostel, a venue set up to provide accommodation for travellers visiting the country.
