NATO and Georgia officials are set to gather in Brussels this week to discuss the country's progress of reforms and how the Alliance can assists Georgia as it moves to realise its European aspirations.

The NATO-Georgia Commission meeting will be held on January 14 at the NATO headquarters in Belgium, said Georgia’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson David Kereselidze.

A delegation from Georgia will attend the meeting together with representatives of the 28 Alliance member states.

Official documents stated the parties will discuss Georgia’s Annual National Program (ANP) - a document which reflects Georgia's short-to medium-term strategy that covers various issues ranging from purely military reforms to foreign and security policy and economic development.

Although the meeting will be held at the level of Ambassadors, Georgia’s State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration David Bakradze and First Deputy Foreign Minister David Dondua will also participate in the discussions.

Georgian officials said Georgia perceived the ANP as an integration instrument. The country has annually developed this document since 2009, which was later reviewed by its allies. The document reflected all the substantial reforms and issues that assisted in bringing Georgia closer to NATO standards.

The NATO-Georgia Commission was established in September 2008 to serve as a forum for political consultations and practical cooperation to help Georgia achieve its goal of NATO membership.
