Each of Georgia’s provinces will soon have its own unique plan of development.

Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili spoke about the new Governmental initiative at today’s meeting with Georgia’s regional governors.

Garibashvili said his economic team had learnt about each region’s economic potential and would soon prepare development plans for each province based on their findings.

"We have identified all priority directions, investment and tourism potential for each region and now we will take concrete actions in all the identified directions,” said PM Garibashvili.

"Central and regional governments, local businessmen and potential investors are being mobilised to be offered the opportunity to launch new projects with full support from us.”

Garibashvili said within the new initiative, entrepreneurs would be offered "maximum support” and state property would be privatised.

"This will see more enterprises open, more people get employed and the provinces strengthen economically,” he said.

The PM and members of the Georgian Government will start their regional tour next week. The first meeting within this initiative will be held in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region in southern Georgia.

"I will personally arrive in each region to ensure implementation of this program is carried out as quickly as possible,” the PM said.

"For me, development is a top priority”.
