After being screened all over the world at a variety of international film festivals, Georgian melancholic romantic comedy film Blind Dates (Shemtkhveviti Paemnebi) will soon make its first appearance on the big screen in Ukraine.

Blind Dates, directed by Levan Koguashvili, will soon be shown in local cinemas and later at the Odessa International Film Festival.

The film is due to be released in Ukrainian cinemas on March 5.

"Let's start spring with a melancholic romance in Georgian style,” stated the Odessa International Film Festival on its Facebook page yesterday.

Festival jurors announced Blind Dates would be one of the best films to feature at the Odessa International Film Festival – due to take place in July.

Blind Dates is Koguashvilis’s second film where he takes a light-hearted, gentle look at relationships and the fear of making commitments.

He tells his tale through main protagonist Sandro, a teacher and confirmed bachelor who spends his time flirting online. He enjoys the simplicity of not committing but things all change when he falls in love with Manana.
