The popular boulevard in Georgia’s Black Sea resort town Batumi is undergoing major renovation to become greener, more colourful and with cozy recreation zones instead of the grey asphalt.

The Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara is working on the Boulevard Development Concept for the first time in history. The author of the concept is Dreamland Oasis, a local development firm.

The project implied future development of the boulevard, which is currently enjoyed by pedestrians, cyclists and people on skateboards, roller blades and more. The boulevard currently has three paths for different users however the project would replace the 5.2km middle and largest path as the asphalt was badly damaged.

This central path will be replaced with landscape elements, and this would increase the boulevard’s green space by 120 percent.

The new concept also envisaged a 1.6km path to be divided into different recreation zones, which will be connected via new, smaller paths.

Additional new infrastructure and amenities will also be introduced, including a solar clock square, an area depicting the planets, a Japanese garden, a so-called fire zone, a laurel maze, several new cafes and more.

Dreamland Oasis created a video to show how the new Batumi Boulevard would look after the major renovation.

The Batumi Boulevard concept is due to be completed by May 2016.

Meanwhile, Dreamland Oasis was the same company responsible for developing infrastructure in Chakvi, another seaside resort town in Adjara.

Dreamland Oasis has invested tasked $105 million USD to build a resort zone and new infrastructure around the Oasis Hotel in Chakvi. When complete the resort area will contain hotel-type dwellings that meet international standards. Currently 21 residential building are being constructed in the area.

When completed, the complex will include three open and one closed pools, a water park, tennis courts and stadiums. Overall the plan showed there would be 1,000 hotel-type apartments built at the site.
