Another enterprise has launched in Georgia to produce plastic bottle caps.
Four million GEL was invested in the new Geocap company, which was implemented under the ‘Produce in Georgia’ state program.
The multi-million GEL factory was opened today in a ceremony attended by Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Government representatives.
PM Garibashvili addressed the ceremony and expressed his hope that the plastic bottle caps produced at Geocap would replace similar imported items.
It was our Government’s goal to support local production and develop an export-oriented market so for his purpose we launched a state program called ‘Produce in Georgia’.
Through this program we have already financed 123 enterprises. In total we have implemented 350 million GEL in investments. This means we have created several thousand jobs and that Georgian production is developing,” said Garibashvili.
The Prime Minister added it was hard for him to see derelict factories which used to work 20-25 years ago but were abandoned after the collapse of the Soviet Union. He said it was the Government’s role to "revive such abandoned factories”.
Today we see great examples of how the state and the private sector jointly managed to revive an abandoned and ruined factory and transfer it into a modern, European-type enterprise.
Geocap can not only to replace imports but can export its products as well,” said Garibashvili
The Prime Minister promised the state would further support any interesting initiative that contributed to enhancing Georgia’s production industry.
