Today the Parliament of the Republic of Greece ratified the Association Agreement (AA) between Georgia and the European Union (EU).
Greece’s newly elected Parliament gathered on October 3 for the first time. On November 9 the Georgia-EU deal was discussed and voted by the Parliament’s National Defence and Foreign Affairs Committee.
With this vote Greece became the 26th EU country to ratify the Georgia-EU agreement.
The Georgia-EU Association deal has already been ratified by European Parliament and 26 of 28 EU member states.
EU Association deals must be ratified by all 28 EU member countries before they can be fully implemented.
Georgia’s AA deal was signed by a country representative and the EU on June 27, 2014 in Brussels.
