A handful of Georgian wine companies exhibited their products at two leading wine festivals in France – the Les Penitentes and the La Divre Boutteile exhibitions – to raise awareness of Georgian wine, diversify export markets and attract more customers.
The two French wine exhibitions are considered among two of the world’s most important events in the sphere of wine-making. The exhibitions are attended by wine companies from all over the globe, international wine importers, buyers and media representatives.
The first exhibition, Les Penitentes, was held in the city of Angers where five Georgian wine companies showcased their unique products.
Only companies involved in natural wine-making were able to be represented at the popular exhibition. As well as Georgia, wines from Italy, Spain and France were also on show.
Georgian wine companies Iago’s Wine, Pheasant’s Tears, Alavrdi Cellar, Ramaz Nikoladze Cellar and Mandili were represented at the exhibition thanks to support from the National Wine Agency of Georgia.
Georgian wine-makers said such exhibitions helped them attract more customers and accordingly, to increase their export capacity.
Georgian wine also featured at another French wine festival. The La Divre Boutteile exhibition was held in the western French historic town of Saumur.
At this event Gold Wine, Winery Niki Antadze and six types of Iberieli wines were exhibited.
During the exhibition a documentary film by French director Pillipe Gasnier was shown, which told the 8,000-year history of Georgian wine-making.
The Georgian National Wine Agency supported the Georgian wine-making companies to take part in these exhibitions to popularise Georgia wines to the international community and professionals.
